LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK | ROSIE ALDRIDGE | STUTTGART

Rosie Aldridge makes her role debut as Katerina Ismailova in a new production of Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk” at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, premiering on November 8, with further performances on November 14 and 19, December 16, and January 3 and 22. Nicholas Carter conducts the production directed by Ulrike Schwab. The cast also includes Ladislav Elgr as Sergei, Goran Jurić as Boris, and Moritz Kallenberg as Zinovy.
The role debut brings the British mezzo-soprano back to the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where she has previously appeared as Kundry in Wagner’s “Parsifal,” the Witch in Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel,” and the Kostelnička in Janáček’s “Jenůfa.”

Earlier this season, Rosie Aldridge made another major role debut as Goneril in Aribert Reimann’s “Lear” at the Komische Oper Berlin, in a new production directed by Barrie Kosky. Later in the season, she returns to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as the Kostelnička in “Jenůfa,” to the Komische Oper Berlin as Mrs. Lovett in Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd,” and to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, as Kabanicha in Janáček’s “Káťa Kabanová.”
