MARIGONA QERKEZI |AIDA DEUTSCHE OPER BERLIN

On May 22, 2025, Marigona Qerkezi will make her debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, stepping into the title role of Aida on just one day’s notice. She takes the stage in Benedikt von Peter’s striking production, under the baton of Paolo Arrivabeni. She joins a distinguished cast featuring SeokJong Baek as Radamès, Judit Kutasi as Amneris, Byung Gil Kim as Ramfis, Michael Bachtadze as Amonasro, Tobias Kehrer as the King, Thomas Cilluffo as the Messenger, and Sua Jo as the High Priestess.

“It’s always a privilege, a joy, and an honor to perform such a powerful role,” says Marigona Qerkezi. “I’m very much looking forward to bringing Aida to the Berlin audience.”

The soprano, born and raised in Croatia, has previously received acclaim for her interpretation of Aida at renowned venues including Opera A Coruña, and Dubai Opera. She will reprise the role again this July at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.

Her Verdi repertoire also includes the title role in Giovanna d’Arco, Gilda in Rigoletto, Leonora in Il trovatore, Elvira in Ernani, Lucrezia Contarini in I due Foscari, and Abigaille in Nabucco—a role in which she recently triumphed at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. She is currently garnering rave reviews for her portrayal of Norma at the Frankfurt Opera.
