Erika Grimaldi sings the three heroines of Puccini’s Il trittico with the National Symphony Orchestra under Gianandrea Noseda. She makes her role debuts as Giorgetta in Il tabarro and as Suor Angelica, and returns to Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, a role she performed earlier in her career.
Performances take place at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on April 28 and May 1, and at Carnegie Hall on May 3.
Erika Grimaldi has performed a wide range of Puccini roles. In recent seasons, she has debuted in the title roles of Manon Lescaut, Tosca, and Madama Butterfly, while Mimì remains her most frequently performed role.
The Italian soprano has also received high acclaim for her recent appearances with the NSO, including Desdemona in Otello and as soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Missa solemnis.
