Etienne Dupuis makes his Dallas Opera debut as Rodrigo di Posa in a new production of Verdi’s Don Carlo, staged by Louis Désiré and conducted by Emmanuel Villaume. He joins a notable cast that includes Stephen Costello in the title role, Nicole Car as Elisabetta di Valois, Christian Van Horn as Filippo II, Clémentine Margaine as Princess Eboli, and Morris Robinson as the Grand Inquisitor. Performances are on February 27, March 1, 4, and 7.
Rodrigo di Posa is a signature role for Etienne Dupuis, who has performed both the original French version, notably at the Metropolitan Opera and the Opéra Bastille, as well as the more frequently performed Italian version.

Etienne Dupuis was born in Montréal, where he completed his vocal studies at the McGill University, after which he became a member of l’Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal. When not travelling the world, Etienne lives in Paris, France, with his wife, the soprano Nicole Car, and their son Noah. Together with Nicole, he is a co-Artistic Director of ICAV, the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute. Etienne is also an Ambassador of Opera for Peace. In 2021, Etienne was given the prestigious Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres recognition by the government of France.
