A defining role at a pivotal moment: Gabriela Scherer takes on Leonore in Fidelio at Opernhaus Zürich, marking her first leading appearance in the role at her home house.
Performances take place on May 3, 6, 10, 14, and 16, 2026, in a production by Andreas Homoki conducted by Axel Kober.
She is joined by Klaus Florian Vogt (Florestan), Derek Welton (Don Pizarro), Christof Fischesser (Rocco), Anna El-Khashem (Marzelline), Andrew Owens (Jaquino), and Yannick Debus (Don Fernando).
Early in her career, Gabriela Scherer was a member of the ensemble at Opernhaus Zürich, making this return in Fidelio a particularly meaningful milestone.
Internationally recognized for her interpretations of the German repertoire, Gabriela Scherer continues to build on a trajectory that has seen her take on major roles by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss across leading European stages. Her portrayal of Leonore further consolidates her position among today’s most compelling interpreters of this repertoire.
