Major role debut for Irina Lungu, who, on January 19, 2025, at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, will sing for the first time one of the most coveted and revered roles in the entire soprano repertoire, the protagonist of a new mise-en-scéne of Vincenzo Bellini’s Norma, the inaugural production of the 2025 season. Staged by Hugo De Ana and conducted by Leonardo Simi, Norma will also feature – in the cast headed by Irina Lungu – Aya Wakizono as Adalgisa, Antonio Poli as Pollione, and Alessio Cacciamani as Oroveso.

Just last spring, Irina Lungu received rave reviews in Catania for a Marco Tutino double bill, La Lupa” and Il Berretto a Sonagli, where she created the role of Beatrice Fiorica.

Irina Lungu’s next engagement will be another production of Norma at the Staatsoper Berlin this coming April.
