VLADIMIR STOYANOV MAKES HIS COVENT GARDEN DEBUT IN PIKOVAJA DAMA

January 13, 2019

On January 13, 2019 Vladimir Stoyanov will make his debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Prince Yeletsky in Pikovaja Dama, in a production by Stefan Herheim and under the musical direction by Sir Antonio Pappano. He will share the stage with Aleksandr Antonenko as Gherman, Eva-Maria Westbroeke as Liza, Felicity Palmer as the Countess and John Lundgren as Count Tomsky.

The ROH Covent Carden will now join the remarkable number of major opera companies to have invited the Bulgarian born baritone, which include the Teatro alla Scala Milan, the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Opéra de Paris, the Vienna State Opera, Teatro Real Madrid, the Grand Teatre de Liceu Barcelona, the Bavarian State Opera Munich, the Deutsche Oper and Staatsoper Berlin, the San Francisco Opera, the New National Theatre Tokyo and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Vladimir Stoyanov’s big breakout occurred in 1998 when he sang the title role in Macbeth at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, which led him to the above mentioned stages and many others, making a name for himself particularly as a specialist in the Verdi baritone repertoire.

After this London Pikovaja Dama, Vladimir Stoyanov’s 2018/2019 season and other future engagements include Renato in Un ballo in maschera at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, the title role of Rigoletto in Seoul, at the Palau de les Arts Valencia and at the Bregenz Festival, the protagonist in Simon Boccanegra at the Opéra de Montpellier; Francesco Foscari in I due Foscari at the Festival Verdi in Parma, Germont in La Traviata at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and at NCPA Beijing; Ernesto in Il pirata at the Teatro Real Madrid, Ford in Falstaff in Piacenza, Modena and Reggio Emilia, and Conte di Luna in Il trovatore at Opera Australia, in Melbourne and Sydney.
