KANGMIN JUSTIN KIM AS IDAMANTE IN IDOMENEO AT STAATSTHEATER WIESBADEN

April 30, 2019

On April 30, 2019 Kangmin Justin Kim will sing Idamante in Mozart's Idomeneo at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden in a new production by Uwe Eric Laufenberg, conducted by Konrad Junghänel. The first two performances will be part of the theater's International May Festival, and the remaining three will run through June 14, 2019. Kim will share the stage with Mirko Roschkowski & Thomas Blondelle (Idomeneo), Slávka Zámečníková (Ilia) and Netta Or (Elettra), among others.

Kim returns to Wiesbaden after his April 2018 appearance as Hamor in Jephtha, for which he also worked with conductor Konrad Junghänel. He has previously sung Idamante at the Stadttheater Giessen in 2013.

Idamante is the first of three Mozartian trouser roles on the countertenor's schedule for 2019. After Idomeneo, Kim will make his house debut at the Royal Opera House in London, singing under the musical direction of Sir John Eliot Gardiner as Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, and in October 2019 he will sing Annio in La Clemenza di Tito at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna.
