MARIA JOSÉ SIRI AS MANON LESCAUT IN BERLIN

June 09, 2019

On June 9, 2019 Maria José Siri will return to the Deutsche Oper Berlin to sing the title role in Manon Lescaut, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle in a production directed by Gilbert Deflo. The performance will be the first of three, the latter two being on June 12 and 15, 2019. Ms. Siri will be joined by Jorge de León as Des Grieux and Thomas Lehman as Lescaut, among others.

Siri most recently sang the role at La Scala, in a production by David Pountney conducted by Riccardo Chailly that featured the original, rarely performed 1893 version of the opera. She made her debut as Manon Lescaut in Montevideo in 2014, and has since sung it at such opera houses as the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Grand Théâtre in Geneva and at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.

Upcoming engagements for Ms. Siri following Manon Lescaut include singing the title role in Aida at the Arena di Verona, and the Verdi Requiem at the Bregenzer Festspiele. Further future engagements include her role debut as Giorgetta in Il tabarro and the title role of Suor Angelica at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Leonora in a new production of La forza del destino at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the title role of Norma at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
