ANNALISA STROPPA AS ROSINA IN BUDAPEST

August 07, 2020

On August 7, 2020, Annalisa Stroppa will make her Budapest Summer Festival debut as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, in a production by András Békés under the musical direction of Balázs Kocsár and co-starring Giorgio Caoduro in the title role. There will be an additional performance on August 9, 2020.

Though it’s her Budapest debut, the Italian mezzo-soprano had previously performed in Pecs, Hungary, on the occasion of the Operalia 2009, when she sang the final duet from Carmen with Plácido Domingo.

Rosina is one of Annalisa Stroppa’s most beloved roles; after debuting it in 2014 at the Rome Opera, she has sung it in some of the most prestigious international opera companies and festivals such as the Berlin Staaatsoper and Deutsche Oper, Dresden Semperoper, Monte-Carlo Opera, Lausanne Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Israeli Opera, ABAO Bilbao, Teatro Filarmonico Verona, and Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa. Performances as Rosina at the Bavarian State Opera in April 2020 and at the Savonlinna Opera Festival this past July were canceled and postponed due to the Covid19 pandemic.

Annalisa Stroppa’s upcoming engagements include Rosina at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Savonlinna Opera Festival, Adalgisa in Norma at the Teatro Real of Madrid, Mahler’s Symphony N.4 at the 57th Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo, her role debut as Irene in Belisario at the Teatro Donizetti Bergamo, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly and her first Preziosilla in La forza del destino at the Maggio Musicale in Florence, Suzuki at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and Fenena in Nabucco at the Arena di Verona.
