Irina Lungu to make her debut at the Philharmonie of Paris

On January 31, 2018 Irina Lungu will make her debut at the Philharmonie of Paris as the soprano soloist in Rachmaninov’s choral symphony The Bells (Kolokola) under the musical direction of Maestro Gianandrea Noseda at the helm of the Orchestre de Paris, and alongside tenor Dmytro Popov and bass Vladimir Vaneev. The Bells is the second part of a concert which also features excerpts from Alfredo Casella’s La donna serpente as well as Claude Debussy’s Images, and which will have an additional performance on February 1, 2018.

 

Irina Lungu, who is singing Rachmaninov’s masterpiece for the first time, has frequently teamed with Maestro Noseda, their collaborations including Gilda in Rigoletto at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, Violetta in La traviata, Marguerite in Faust and Mimì in La bohème at the Teatro Regio Turin, where Maestro Noseda is Music Director. 

 

In addition to The Bells, engagements of the Russian soprano’s 2017/2018 season include her role debut as Corinna in Il viaggio a Reims at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at the Vienna State Opera and at the Estates Theatre in Prague, Violetta in La traviata at the Bolshoi Theatre and the New National Theatre of Tokyo, her debut in the title role of Manon at the ABAO Bilbao, Lucia di Lammermoor at the Den Norske Opera of Oslo and Anna Bolena at the Teatro Filarmonico of Verona.
