On June 18 and 19, Andrea Sanguineti, Music Director of the Aalto-Musiktheater Essen and the Essener Philharmoniker since the 2023/24 season, conducts Giuseppe Verdi’s monumental Messa da Requiem in Essen on June 18 and 19, 2026, at the Alfried Krupp Saal.

Joining him is an international cast featuring soprano Lidia Fridman, mezzo-soprano Bettina Ranch, tenor Alejandro del Angel, and bass Roberto Scandiuzzi, alongside the Opera Chorus of the Aalto-Theater and the Philharmonischer Chor Essen.

The Genoese maestro has recently led a new production of Puccini’s La fanciulla del West in Essen to widespread critical acclaim, with reviewers praising both the dramatic intensity of his conducting and the richly detailed sound he drew from the Essener Philharmoniker.
