On February 28, 2026, George Gagnidze returns to his hometown of Tbilisi to perform the role of Tonio in Pagliacci at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre, in a production directed by Federico Grazzini and conducted by Levan Jagaev. He shares the stage with Konstantine Kipiani as Canio, Tinatin Mamulashvili as Nedda, Guram Paatishvili as Beppe, and Giorgi Lomiseli as Silvio.

Tonio is one of George Gagnidze’s signature roles, which he has performed on some of the world’s leading stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and Hamburg State Opera.

The Tbilisi Opera is also where he made his stage debut, singing Renato in Un ballo in maschera.
