PUCCINI & MASSENET: On January 7, Sonya Yoncheva kicks off her thrilling, high-profile and globe-spanning 2026 with a concert at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Her fellow Bulgarian Nayden Todorov conducts the Sofia Philharmonic. She will perform arias by Puccini from Le Villi and Manon Lescaut, by Massenet from Hérodiade and Manon, Dvořák’s Rusalka, Bizet’s Carmen, and a rarely heard Bulgarian gem, Parashkev Hadjiev’s Albena.
Also on the program are Petko Staynov’s Danses de Thrace (“Rachenitsa”), the Intermezzo from Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, and the Overture to Bizet’s Carmen.
The Plovdiv-born soprano returns to France in February for a recital of her latest hit album, George, in Bordeaux.
