On July 19, 2018 Cristina Pasaroiu will sing the role of Micaëla in the premiere of Carmen at the Bregenz Festival, in a production by Kasper Holten under the musical direction of Maestros Antonino Fogliani. She will share the stage with Gaëlle Arquez in the title role, Daniel Johansson as Don José and Kostas Smoriginas as Escamillo. It is the first of nine performances running through August 18.
Cristina Pasaroiu has already interpreted the role of Micaëla at the Bregenz Festival when this production was inaugurated one year ago. “It is a fascinating experience to sing on Europe’s biggest floating stage”, says the Romanian soprano. “In the beautiful staging of Kaspar Holten I’m singing Micaëla at a height of 53 meters. I find it every night exciting and the adrenalin rises when looking at the 7000 visitors and the moon from this height.”
After this Carmen in Bregenz, Cristina Pasaroiu will make her debut in another important work of the French operatic repertoire in December at Deutsche Oper Berlin in December 2018, where she will sing the four soprano parts of Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann. As Micaëla in Carmen she will return to the Bavarian State Opera Munich in February and March 2019.
