CRISTINA PASAROIU IN LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN IN BERLIN

On December 1, 2018 Cristina Pasaroiu will make her debut as Olympia/Antonia/Giulietta/Stella in the premiere of Laurent Pelly’s production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Daniel Johannson will sing the title role, Alex Esposito will perform the Four Villains and Irene Roberts will embody Nicklausse. Enrique Mazzola will be conducting the performances running through January 12, 2019.

“It is a big challenge to perform four so different roles in one evening”, says the Romanian soprano. “As a character and vocally the role which suits me most is Antonia, but I’m also enjoying Olympia’s vocal fireworks and the challenge to find the right colour for a character such as Giulietta. The staging in Berlin also requires a lot of stamina and flexibility, I have to sing flying through the air and roller skating! But it is a lot of fun. Musically the collaboration with Enrique Mazzola has been wonderful and I’m very happy to make this debut under his baton.”

After this Hoffmann in Berlin Cristina Pasaroiu will sing Gilda in a new staging of Rigoletto in Wiesbaden and at the Savonlinna Festival, Micaela in Carmen at the Bayerische Staatsoper and the title role of La traviata in Novara.
