ETIENNE DUPUIS | DON CARLO | VIENNA 

On September 26, 2024, Etienne Dupuis will inaugurate the 2024/2025 season of the Wiener Staatsoper as Don Rodrigo di Posa in Don Carlo, in a Kirill Serebrennikov production and under the musical direction of Philippe Jordan. He will share the stage with Joshua Guerrero in the title role, Asmik Grigorian as Elisabetta di Valois, Roberto Tagliavini as Filippo II, Eve-Maud Hubeaux as Princess Eboli, and Dmitry Ulyanov as Grande Inquisitore. Additional performances will be on September 29, October 3, 6, 9, and later in the season on March 13, 16, 20 and 23, 2025.

The Quebecois baritone made his Wiener Staatsoper as Valentin in Faust in 2021, subsequently returning as Figaro in a new production of Il barbiere di Siviglia, Marcello in La bohème, Albert in Werther and as the protagonist of Eugene Onegin.

In addition to Rodrigo / Rodrigue – he also sang the original French version of the opera at the Metropolitan Opera -, other Verdi roles Etienne Dupuis has in his repertoire include Germont in La traviata, the title role of Rigoletto, Conte di Luna in Il trovatore, Don Carlo in La forza del destino, and Paolo Albiani in Simon Boccanegra.
