ÉTIENNE DUPUIS | SIMON BOCCANEGRA | PARIS

New Verdi role for Étienne Dupuis, who, on March 12, 2024 at the Opéra National de Paris, sings for the first time Paolo Albiani in Simon Boccanegra, in a Calixto Bieito production and under the musical direction of Thomas Hengelbrock. He will share the stage with Ludovic Tézier in the title role, Nicole Car as Amelia Grimaldi, Charles Castronovo as Gabriele Adorno, and Mika Kares as Jacopo Fiesco. There will be seven additional performances on March 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, and April 3.

This season has been rich with Verdi debuts for the Quebecois baritone, who sang his first Don Carlo di Vargas in La forza del destino at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and his first Rigoletto at the Teatro Real Madrid, also reprising his Germont in a concert performance of La traviata at the Wiener Konzerthaus alongside Anna Netrebko.

Étienne Dupuis’s next engagement is still at the Opéra de Paris, where in May he will make his role debut as Sancho in Massenet’s Don Quichotte.
