On June 1, 2023, Frédéric Chaslin returns to the Auditorium Manzoni in Bologna, as part of the symphonic season of the Teatro Comunale Bologna, for a concert including Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 in G Major and his own “Theme and Variations on a theme of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 for trombone and orchestra”, with trombonist Paolo Masi. Soprano Erika Grimaldi stars in the first piece.

The Paris-born conductor, pianist, composer and author has been enjoying a fruitful collaboration with the Teatro Comunale Bologna, which he often names as one of the best musical institutions in Italy. He last performed in Bologna with an all-French program which included Berlioz’s Harold en Italie, Debussy’s Prélude à l’Après-midi d’un faune and Chausson’s Symphony in B flat major op. 20.
