After his sensational success with his Teatro alla Scala debut conducting La Gioconda last season, Frédéric Chaslin returns to this historic temple of music with Offenbach’s lone opera, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, to be premiered on March 15, 2023, with five additional performances through March 31. The new production is by Davide Livermore, and the cast includes Vittorio Grigolo as Hoffmann, Federica Guida as Olympia, Eleonora Buratto as Antonia, Francesca Di Sauro as Giulietta, Luca Pisaroni as Lindorf/Coppelius/Dottor Miracle/Dapertutto, Marina Viotti as Nicklausse/La Muse, Greta Doveri as Stella, François Piolino as Andrés/Cochenille/Frantz/Pitichinacchio, Hugo Laporte as Luther/Crespel and Alfonso Antoniozzi as Hermann/Schlemil.

Frédéric Chaslin, conductor, pianist but also renowned scholar, is an expert on the score and complex, multi-layered story of this opera fantastique, which he has championed in many prestigious International opera companies such as the Metropolitan Opera New York,  Vienna State Opera, Semperoper Dresden, Teatro La Fenice Venice.

A DVD/Blu-Ray of his performances at the Macerata Opera Festival has been published by Dynamic.
