On April 13 and 16, 2023, Frédéric Chaslin will conduct two concert performances of Tosca at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Main Hall for the Tokyo Spring Festival, leading the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and a cast starring Krassimira Stoyanova in the title role, Piero Pretti as Cavaradossi and Sir Bryn Terfel as Scarpia.
The Parisian-born conductor, composer, pianist, and author has recently led a new production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Previously this season he had received rave reviews for conducting a new production of Lakmé at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie – Liège.
On the concert platform, Frédéric Chaslin’s next engagement is at the Teatro Comunale Bologna conducting Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No.4 in G Major, with soprano soloist Erika Grimaldi and Theme and Variations on a Theme of Mahler’s Symphony No.3 for Trombone and Orchestra with soloist Paolo Masi.
