GEORGE GAGNIDZE AS GIORGIO GERMONT IN LA TRAVIATA IN PARIS

On September 29, 2018 George Gagnidze will return to the Opéra National de Paris as Giorgio Gérmont in La traviata, in a production by Benoît Jacquot under the musical direction of Maestros Giacomo Sagripanti and Karel Mark Chicon, the first of a series of seven performances running through October 17, 2018. He will share the stage with Aleksandra Kurzak in the title role and Jean-François Borras as Alfredo.

George Gagnidze has already sung Verdi’s masterpiece on the occasion  of two important debuts: at the Arena of Verona and at the Teatro alla Scala Milan. La traviata is not the first opera the Georgian baritone is performing at the Opéra National Paris, having previously appeared as Amonasro in Aida, Scarpia in Tosca and Giovanni lo sciancato in Francesca da Rimini.

After this Paris Traviata, George Gagnidze’s 2018/2019 engagements include his role debut as Michele in Il Tabarro and the title role in Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera, Iago in Otello at the Opéra National Paris and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
