GEORGE GAGNIDZE TO MAKE HIS DEBUT WITH THE LA PHILHARMONIC

On July 15, 2018 George Gagnidze will sing the role of Iago in a concert performance of Otello at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonics conducted by Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. He will sing alongside Russell Thomas in the title role and Julianna Di Giacomo as Desdemona.

“This is my third outing as Iago, having made my role debut at the Staatsoper Hamburg in 2013 and have subsequently sung it in Athens. It is a late Verdi role, which means it calls for more declamato and a bigger voice to sail through a large orchestra.” The Georgian baritone will sing in two different productions of Otello, at the Paris Opera and Deutsche Oper Berlin, in the upcoming 2018/2019 season.

After this Los Angeles Otello, and in addition to the above mentioned productions of the same opera, George Gagnidze’s already announced engagements include his role debut as Michele in Il tabarro and the title role in Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera and Giorgio Germont in La traviata at the Paris Opera.
