GEORGE GAGNIDZE | TOSCA | NAPOLI

George Gagnidze will return to the Teatro San Carlo in Naples for two performances of Tosca, singing his signature role of Scarpia on April 20 and 23. Replacing an ailing colleague, he will star alongside Oksana Dyka in the title role and Jonas Kaufmann as Cavaradossi. Juraj Valčuha will conduct Edoardo De Angelis’ staging, which the Georgian baritone has already performed when it was created in 2020.

At the Teatro San Carlo, he has also sung Germont in La traviata and Alfio in Cavalleria rusticana.

He has long made a specialty of the role of Puccini’s evil Baron, having interpreted it to constant high acclaim in virtually all the most prestigious international opera houses such as the Teatro alla Scala Milan, the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera, and the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
