Irina Lungu makes her Maggio Musicale Fiorentino debut as Alice Ford in Falstaff on June 16, 2023, in a production by Sven-Erich Bechtolf and under the musical direction of Daniele Gatti. She will share the stage with Michael Volle in the title role, Markus Werba as Ford, Rosalia Cid as Nannetta, Matthew Swensen as Fenton, Adriana Di Paola as Mrs. Quickly, Claudia Huckle as Meg Page, Tigran Martirossian as Pistola, Oronzo D’Urso as Bardolfo and Christian Collia as Dr. Cajus.

Though at her role debut, Irina Lungu is not new to Verdi’s swan song, having often performed the part of Nannetta, most notably under Daniele Gatti himself at the Teatro alla Scala.

This fall, Irina Lungu adds a new Verdi heroine to her repertoire, Amelia Grimaldi in Simon Boccanegra at the New National Theatre Tokyo.
