IRINA LUNGU | FAUST | ATHENS

On April 7, 2022, Irina Lungu will sing the role of Marguerite in Faust at Athens’ Greek National Opera, in a production by Renato Zanella and under the musical direction of Maestro Pierre Dumoussaud, the first of a series of four performances running through April 16. She will share the stage with Ivan Magrì in the title role, Yanni Yannissis and Tassos Apostolou alternating as Méphistophélès, Dionysios Sourbis as Valentin, Miranda Makrynioti and Diamanti Kritsotaki as Sièbel.

Irina Lungu, who is making her Greek National Opera debut, has long made a specialty of the role of Marguerite, having debuted it at the Teatro alla Scala and having subsequently sung it on such prestigious stages as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London, the Teatro Regio Turin, the Sydney Opera House, the Teatro Real Madrid and the Dutch National Opera Amsterdam. She is going to reprise this part next month at the Teatro Sāo Carlos Lisbon.
