IRINA LUNGU IN IL VIAGGIO A REIMS IN SYDNEY

On October 24, 2019, Irina Lungu will sing the role of Corinna in Il viaggio a Reims in a production by Damiano Michieletto under the musical direction of Maestro Daniel Smith, the first of a series of five performances running through November 2, 2019. She will share the stage with Emma Pearson as Contessa di Folleville, Julie Lea Goodwin as Madama Cortese, Sian Sharp as Marchesa Melibea, Juan de Dios Mateos as Cavaliere Belfiore, Shanul Sharma as Conte di Libenskof, Warwick Fyfe as Barone di Trombonok, Teddy Tahu Rhodes as Lord Sidney and Giorgio Caduro as Don Profondo.

The Russian soprano who first sang the role of Corinna for the 2017/18 season inauguration of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona made her Sydney Opera House and Australia Opera debut last season as Gilda in Rigoletto and will return in February 2020 as Marguerite in Faust. Other upcoming engagements for Irina Lungu include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at the Vienna State Opera, Mimì in La Bohème at the Opera de Monte-Carlo and Teatro Lirico Cagliari, and a role debut as the soprano soloist in Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at the Zaryadye Hall Moscow.
