JACQUELYN WAGNER AS ELSA IN LOHENGRIN IN SALZBURG

On November 2, 2019, Jacquelyn Wagner will debut the role of Elsa in Lohengrin at the Salzburg Landestheater, in a production by Roland Schwab and under the musical direction of Leslie Suganandarajah, the first of a series of nine performances running through December 7, 2019. She will share the stage with Benjamin Bruns as Lohengrin, Miina-Liisa Värelä / Khatuna Mikaberidze as Ortrud, Alexander Krasnov as Friedrich von Telramund, and Pavel Kudinov as Heinrich der Vogler.

Jacquelyn Wagner made her Salzburg debut during the 2019 Easter Festival as Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, a role which had already earned her wide success at the Teatro alla Scala in March/April 2017. The American soprano has rapidly established herself in the German and Italian repertoire, namely Mozart and Wagner. She opened her current season making her debut in another iconic German role, Agathe in Der Freischütz at the Zurich Opera; as for Richard Strauss, it was her exceptional portrayal of Arabella at De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam that represented a turning point in her phenomenal career.

After this Salzburg Lohengrin, Jacquelyn Wagner’s upcoming engagements include Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, a Beethoven Concert with the Wiener Symphoniker in Vienna and Paris, her role debut as Handel’s Alcina for Deutsche Oper am Rhein, revivals of her celebrated interpretations of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte at the Opéra National de Paris, and Symphony Nr. 2 with the Wiener Symphoniker at the Vienna Musikverein.
