On April 13, 2019 is the season premiere of Tosca at the Aalto-Theater in Essen starring Leonardo Caimi as Cavaradossi, the first of three performances running through June 23. Robert Jindra conducts, the staging is by Christine Mielitz. Gabrielle Mouhlen, Nikoloz Lagvilava, Günes Gürle, Baurzhan Anderzhanov, Rainer Maria Röhr, Karl-Ludwig Wissmann, Peter Holthausen and Christina Clark are cast in the other roles.

Leonardo Caimi recently performed the role of Cavaradossi to great acclaim at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago in Chile and at the Frankfurt Opera House. In 2020 he will reprise it at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.

After this Tosca in Essen, the Italian tenor will sing Henri in a new production of Les vêpres siciliennes in Bonn, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly in Jerez, Des Grieux in Manon in Tel Aviv and Don José in Carmen in Leipzig.
