On October 4, 2020, María José Siri will make her role debut as Abigaille in Nabucco at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, in a production by Leo Muscato and under the musical direction of Maestro Paolo Carignani. She will share the stage with Plácido Domingo in the title role, Alexander Vinogradov as Zaccaria, Fabio Sartori as Ismaele, and Caterina Piva as Fenena.

Abigaille will be María José Siri’s thirteenth Verdi title. The Uruguayan born, Italian naturalized soprano has already appeared in Florence as Aida and in Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, as Nedda in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, Suor Angelica, and Giorgetta in Il tabarro.

Among the many Verdi titles the soprano has in her repertoire are Aida, La traviata, Attila, I due Foscari, Il trovatore, La forza del destino, Un ballo in maschera, Simon Boccanegra, Otello, the Italian and French version of Don Carlo, and Messa da Requiem.
