María José Siri in the Life+ Celebration Concert at the Vienna Burgtheater

On June 6, 2017 María José Siri will take part in the Life+ Celebration Concert at the Burgtheater in Vienna, singing “La mamma morta” from Giordano’s Andrea Chénier. Other opera stars besides María José Siri participating in the concert include René Pape, Sumi Jo, Linda Watson, Bo Skovhus, Angela Denoke, Daniela Fally, Pumeza Matshikiza, Julia Novikova, Andrea Carè, Ekaterina Siurina and Charles Castronovo. Alfred Eschwé will conduct the Tonkünstler-Orchester. The concert will also feature musicians and actors such as Yury Revich, Alma Deutscher, Sunnyi Melles, Maria Happel, Chris Lohner, Yvonneka Kálmán and Karl Markovics.

“I’m delighted to be able to help with my voice in this important matter”, states the Uruguayan soprano. “It is our duty to support the fight against HIV/AIDS and I’m happy to contribute to help those who need it”.

Launched in 1993, the Life+ Celebration Concert is one of the world’s biggest AIDS charity events, celebrating life, diversity, tolerance, and respect and fighting HIV/AIDS.

Engagements this year after the gala concert in Vienna will lead María José Siri to the Teatro San Carlo of Naples (Manon Lescaut), the Macerata Opera Festival (Madama Butterfly), the Arena of Verona (Aida), the Santander Festival (Verdi Messa da Requiem), the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Un ballo in maschera), the Teatro alla Scala (Messa per Rossini), the Vienna State Opera (Madama Butterfly) and the Palau de les Arts of Valencia (Don Carlo).
