On July 18, 2019 María José Siri will star in a Verdi Gala Concert with Teatro alla Scala on tour at the Savonlinna Opera Festival, under the musical direction of Maestro Michele Mariotti, sharing the stage with tenor Giorgio Berruti, baritone Leo Nucci and bass Ferruccio Furlanetto.

“I have fond memories of the Savonlinna Festival, where I sang Tosca in 2011,” states the Uruguayan born soprano. “I am thrilled to return here with the forces of the Teatro alla Scala conducted by Maestro Michele Mariotti, and sharing the stages with two authentic operatic legends such as Leo Nucci and Ferruccio Furlanetto.” Maria José Siri will perform selections from Luisa Miller, La forza del destino, Il trovatore and La traviata.

After this Gala, upcoming engagements for Maria José Siri include the soprano soloist in Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at the Bregenz Festival, the title role of Aida at the Arena of Verona, Leonora in a new staging of La forza del destino at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Giorgetta in Il tabarro and the title role of Suor Angelica at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
