MARÍA JOSÉ SIRI N A NEW PRODUCTION OF DON CARLO IN BOLOGNA

On June 6, 2018 María José Siri will return to the Teatro Comunale Bologna as Elisabetta di Valois in a new production of Don Carlo by Henning Brockhaus and under the musical direction of Michele Mariotti, the first of a series of five performances running through June 14, 2018. She will share the stage with Roberto Aronica in the title role, Dmitry Beloselskiy as Filippo II, Veronica Simeoni as La Principessa Eboli, Luca Salsi as Rodrigo di Posa, Luiz-Ottavio Faria as Il Grande Inquisitore and Luca Tittoto as Un frate

María José Siri made her debut as Élisabeth de Valois in the French original version of Don Carlos in Bilbao in 2015, and earlier this season she added the four-act Italian version of Verdi’s opera in Valencia to her wide repertoire. This is the Uruguayan soprano’s fourth Verdi role at the prestigious Bologna opera house, which in 1867 hosted the Italian premiere of Verdi’s masterpiece. María José Siri made her house debut at the Teatro Comunale as Leonora in Il trovatore in 2012, and subsequently performed Amelia in Un ballo in maschera in 2015 and Odabella in Attila in 2016.

After this Don Carlo, María José Siri will end her highly successful 2017/18 season with a Verdi concert at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées marking her Paris debut, will travel to the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires for Verdi’s Messa da Requiem and will return to the Arena of Verona as the protagonist of Aida in the sixth summer in a row.
