Michael Volle continues his extremely busy summer by returning to the Bayreuth Festival on August 1, 2024, and reprising one of his signature roles, the protagonist of Der fliegende Holländer, in a production by Dmitri Tcherniakov and under the musical direction of Oksana Lyniv. He will share the stage with Elisabeth Teige as Senta, Georg Zeppenfeld as Daland, Eric Cutler as Erik, Nadine Weissmann as Mary, and Matthew Newlin as Der Steuermann. Additional performances will be on August 8 and 11.

The German baritone’s performances in this role have left audiences in awe on the most prestigious stages worldwide, including the Metropolitan Opera, the Staatsoper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Zurich Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg, and the Bayreuth Festival.
