On July 25, 2019, Nicole Car will debut the role of Ellen Orford in a concert performance of Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House, under the musical direction of Maestro David Robertson. A second and final performance will take place on July 27. She will share the stage with Stuart Skelton in the title role, Deborah Humble as Auntie, Alan Held as Captain Balstrode and Michel Honeyman as Ned Keene.
Although making her debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian soprano has already appeared to great acclaim at the Sydney Opera House in several leading roles, including Violetta in La traviata, the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and the title role of Luisa Miller.
After these two performances of Peter Grimes, upcoming engagements for Nicole Car include recitals with baritone Etienne Dupuis and pianist Jayson Gillham at the Sydney City Recital Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre, Canberra Theatre Centre, Brisbane QPAC Concert Hall, a concert with Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in Hobart, Tatyana in Evgenij Onegin at the Opéra de Montreal, Elisabetta di Valois in Don Carlo at the Opéra Bastille Paris, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte at the Metropolitan Opera, the title role of Thaïs at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Mimì in La bohème at the ROH, Covent Garden, London, and a Christmas Concert with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal.
