PIETARI INKINEN | MARCH CONCERTS | DRB

Pietari Inkinen returns to his own Deutsche Radio Philharmonie for three concerts in March 2023.. The first, entitled “Saga” takes place on March 9, at the SWR Studio Kaiserslautern and features an all-Sibelius program – designed to draw the audience into the world of Nordic sagas and to capture the beauty of Finland – consisting of “En saga” tone poem Op. 9, and the Violin Concerto in d minor op. 47, where he is joined by violinist Sergey Khachatryan.

In the second and third concerts named named “Hundertprozent Sibelius” on March 12 and 19  at the Alte Schmelz St. Ingbert
and at Gastkonzert Ludwigsburg, respectively, the same program will be repeated with the addition of another Sibelius masterpiece, the Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 43.

Pietari Inkinen has long championed Jean Sibelius’s music. Not only does he performs his works frequently in his concert activity, but he also recorded all the Finnish composer’s symphonies for the Naxos label during his time as Music Director of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
