On March 1, 2019 Riccardo Massi will return to the Mannheim National Theater as Pinkerton in a gala performance of Madama Butterfly. He will be joined by Asmik Grigorian as Cio-Cio-San, Marie-Belle Sandisas as Suzuki, and Jorge Lagunes as Sharpless. Benjamin Reiners will conduct.

As Pinkerton, Massi has appeared at venues such as the Oslo Opera House and the New National Theatre Tokyo, where he made his house debut in the role. This will be Massi’s second performance at the Mannheim National Theater, having first sung there in a very successful 2017 gala performance of Un ballo in maschera with Sondra Radvanovsky.

Following the gala, Massi will sing Pinkerton at the Bavarian State Opera. Further engagements this season include Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Washington National Opera House and the Dresden State Opera, and Pollione in Norma at Munich Opera Festival.
