ROn June 30, 2019 Riccardo Massi will sing Pollione in Norma at the Bayerische Staatsoper’s Munich Opera Festival. The production will feature staging by Jürgen Rose and will be conducted by Andrea Battistoni. Massi will sing alongside Carmen Giannattasio, Angela Brower, Mika Kares, Freddie De Tommaso, and Selene Zanetti. The second and final performance will take place on July 3, 2019.
Massi returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper after successful performances there as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly this past April. As Pollione, he has previously been heard at the Terme di Caracalla in Rome and the Festival Granda in Lima.
Following this production, Massi’s future engagements include Cavaradossi (Tosca) at the Semperoper Dresden and the Bayerische Staatsoper, Manrico (Il trovatore) at the Bayerische Staatsoper, and his role debut as Zamoro (Alzira) at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie.
