RICCARDO MASSI IN IL TROVATORE AT THE BAVARIAN STATE OPERA

On March 7, 2020, Riccardo Massi will sing the role of Manrico in Il trovatore at the Bavarian State Opera Munich, in a production by Olivier Py under the musical direction of Maestro Francesco Ivan Ciampa, the first of a series of three performances running through March 15, 2020. He will sing alongside Anja Harteros as Leonora, Okka von der Damerau as Azucena, Vladislav Sulimsky as Conte di Luna and Bálint Szabó as Ferrando.

Riccardo Massi made his role debut as Manrico at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto in 2012, subsequently reprising it at the Budapest Festival and at the Teatro Comunale Bologna. Roles he has performed at the Bavarian State Opera, where he will return this coming July as Cavaradossi in Tosca, include Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Pollione in Norma and Cavaradossi in Tosca.

Other upcoming engagements for the Italian tenor include his role debut as Zamoro in Alzira at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Liège, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera at the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow and a gala concert “Klassik unter Sternen” with Elīna Garanča at the Göttweig Abbey in Austria.
