RICCARDO MASSI IN TOSCA AT SEMPEROPER DRESDEN

On September 12, 2019, Riccardo Massi will sing the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca in the Johannes Schaaf production at the Semperoper Dresden, under the musical direction of Maestro Daniele Callegari, the first of a series of three performances running through September 21. He will share the stage with Emily Magee as the titular heroine and Andrzej Dobber as Scarpia.

The Marches-born tenor reprises the role of Cavaradossi at the Semperoper Dresden after having already performed it there just a few months ago, in June 2019, and in the 2015/2016 season, in the same Johannes Schaaf production. That of the ill-fated revolutionary painter is one of Riccardo Massi’s most performed roles, having already sung it – among others – at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, Bavarian State Opera, Berlin State Opera, Washington National Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Opera Australia in Sydney, and KBS Symphony Orchestra at the Ansan Arts Center in Seoul, always to rave reviews.

After this Dresden Tosca, Riccardo Massi’s upcoming engagements include the title role in Il trovatore and Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Bavarian State Opera, Zamoro in Alzira at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, his title role debut as Don Carlo at the Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow and Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut for his debut at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa.
