Ricarda Merbeth opens a particularly rich and exciting 2026/27 season on September 22, making both her house and role debut as the Foreign Princess in Dvořák’s Rusalka, the production that opens the Opéra national du Capitole’s new season in Toulouse.

One of today’s foremost interpreters of Wagner and Strauss, Ricarda Merbeth adds the Foreign Princess to a repertoire that includes some of the most demanding dramatic soprano roles, from Brünnhilde, Isolde and Senta to Elektra, the Dyer’s Wife and the title role in Turandot.

Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the revival of Stefano Poda’s production, first seen in Toulouse in 2022. The cast also includes Ruzan Mantashyan as Rusalka, Alexander Roslavets as Vodnik, Pavol Breslik as the Prince and Agnieszka Rehlis as Ježibaba.

Performances take place on September 22, 25, 27 and 30, and October 4.
