SAIMIR PIRGU IN LA DAMNATION DE FAUST IN VIENNA

On February 15 and 16, 2019 Saimir Pirgu returns to the role of Faust in La damnation de Faust at the Wiener Konzerthaus, in concert performances conducted by Philippe Jordan with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

Saimir Pirgu has sung numerous times under the baton of Maestro Jordan, the first occasion of their collaboration being Pirgu’s turn as Ferrando, at age 22, in the premiere of Cosí fan tutte at the Salzburg Festival in 2004. At that time, he was the youngest singer ever to make his Salzburg Festival debut in a leading role.

The tenor made his debut in Damnation de Faust in 2016 at the Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow in a new Peter Stein staging conducted by Tugan Sokhiev, and will reprise it in June with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra conducted by Edward Gardner.
