SAIMIR PIRGU IN LA TRAVIATA AT ODEON OF HERODES ATTICUS

On July 27 and 30, Saimir Pirgu will sing Alfredo in a Greek National Opera production by Konstantinos Rigos of La traviata at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on occasion of the Athens Festival 2019. The performances will be conducted by Lukas Karytinos, and will feature Lisette Oropesa and Dimitri Platanias in the other leading roles.

Saimir Pirgu is one of today’s most acclaimed Alfredos and has sung the role at many of the world’s top opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, the Berlin State Opera and the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires. Most recent performances in the part include a new production at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris and appearances in the role at the Vienna State Opera in the 2018/2019 season.

Upcoming performances in 2019 after this Traviata in Athens include Rodolfo (La bohème) at the Los Angeles Opera, Don Josè (Carmen) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the title role of Gounod’s Faust (role debut) for Opera Australia in Melbourne.
