Sonya Yoncheva will sing one of her signature roles, Violetta in La traviata in concert at the Teatro del Maggio of Florence on July 19. The performance will take place at the Cavea of the Teatro del Maggio, an open-air venue overlooking Florence and will also feature Francesco Demuro as Alfredo Germont and Leo Nucci as Giorgio Germont, while Carlo Rizzi will lead the Choir and Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

This Traviata will be Sonya Yoncheva’s first complete opera performance following the lockdown due to the pandemic. The soprano has sung the role of the Parisian courtesan at many of the world’s leading opera houses such as the Metropolitan Opera, the Paris Opera, the Bayerische Staatsoper of Munich and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. Next year, she will appear as Traviata at the Arena di Verona.

Following this performance in Florence, Sonya will star in a Puccini Gala Concert in Lucca and in more gala concerts at the Reggia di Caserta, the Salzburg Festival, the Roman Theatre of Plovdiv and the Arena di Verona.
