On February 10, 2024, Sonya Yoncheva sings the role of Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly at the Staatsoper Berlin, in a production by Eike Gramss and under the musical direction of Domingo Hindoyan. She will share the stage with Stefan Pop as Pinkerton, Carles Pachon as Sharpless, Natalia Skrycka as Suzuki, Gonzalo Quinchahual as Goro, Taehan Kim as Yamadori, Grigory Shkarupa as Zio Bonzo, Rebecka Wallroth as Kate Pinkerton and Dionysius Avgerinos as Un Commissario. There will be additional performances on February 14, 17, 21, and 24, 2024.

The Bulgarian soprano made her much-awaited and highly acclaimed role debut as the ill-fated geisha at the Wiener Staatsoper in June 2023, reprising it a few months later at the Bayerische Staatsoper.
