A signature role at a house where she has become a fixture: Sonya Yoncheva returns to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in the title role of Norma, before taking the role on to Munich later this month.

The production is by Vasily Barkhatov and conducted by Giuseppe Mentuccia. She leads a distinguished cast including Freddie De Tommaso (Pollione), Angela Brower (Adalgisa), Erwin Schrott (Oroveso), Álvaro Diana (Flavio), and Sonja Herranen (Clotilde). Performances are scheduled for May 1, 6, 10, and 13, 2026.

A frequent and much-admired guest in Berlin, the Bulgarian soprano will return next season to make her role debut in the title role of La Vestale.

Following these performances, Sonya Yoncheva brings Norma to the Bayerische Staatsoper, where she appears beginning May 22.
