Sonya Yoncheva returns to one of her signature roles, the protagonist of Norma, at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich for four performances from May 5 to 10 June 2024, in a Jürgen Rose production and under the musical direction of Gianluca Capuano. She will share the stage with Joseph Calleja as Pollione, Tara Erraught as Adalgisa, Roberto Tagliavini as Oroveso, Granit Musliu as Flavio, and Emily Sierra as Clotilde.

The Bulgarian soprano debuted as Norma in a new production at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, London, to huge acclaim and has reprised it at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona and the Metropolitan Opera New York.

Sonya Yoncheva made her debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper in 2014 as Violetta in La traviata and has since sung Mimì, Tosca, and Madama Butterfly, among others. She will appear in the 2025 Münchner Opernfestspielen 2025 in the double role of Dido / A Woman in Dido and Aeneas  / Erwartung.
