Sonya Yoncheva returns to the Staatsoper Berlin with two performances on April 19 and 23, 2024, in a production by Alvis Hermanis and under the musical direction of Ivan Repušić. She will sing alongside Joseph Calleja as Cavaradossi, and Erwin Schrott as Scarpia in the other leading roles. Sonya Yoncheva had already been feted as Tosca in Berlin in 2019.

The Bulgarian soprano, a long-time favorite of the Staatsoper’s audience, made her debut as Tosca in a new production at the Metropolitan Opera in 2017, making it one of her signature roles that she has performed in numerous international venues including the Wiener Staatsoper, the Arena Verona, Baden-Baden, the Zurich Opera, the Gstaad Festival and with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma on tour in Japan.
