On June 3, 2023, Sonya Yoncheva appears at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden in a gala concert entirely devoted to Verismo music, with Nayden Todorov leading the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, also joined by tenor Riccardo Massi.

The Bulgarian soprano has long championed operas from the so-called Verismo repertoire, with roles such as Iris in Mascagni’s eponymous opera, Stephana in Giordano’s Siberia, Fedora, which she sang this season in two new productions at the Teatro alla Scala and at the Metropolitan Opera, and Maddalena di Coigny in Andrea Chénier, which she just debuted last month again at La Scala.

Sonya Yoncheva is a frequent guest at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, having appeared in concert and as Desdemona in Otello and the title role of Iolanta, and where this August she will bring her celebrated portrayal of Tosca.
