A momentous new step in Vincenzo Milletarì’s fast and steady ascent: his French debut conducting Donizetti’s seldom heard comic opera Deux hommes et une femme at the Opéra de Tours on March 3, 2023, with a second and last performance two days later. He leads a production by Vincent Boussard starring Patrizia Ciofi as Rita, Léo Vermot-Desroches as Pepe and Dietrich Henschel as Gasparo.

The posthumous Deux hommes et une femme (also known as Rita, ou Le mari battu), is the second Donizetti rarity the Taranto-born is conducting this season, after his astounding success with “L’aio nell’imbarazzo” at the Festival Donizetti Opera in Bergamo last fall.

Vincenzo Milletarì’s subsequent operatic engagements include his debut in Tosca at the Den Jyrske Opera Aarhus and the inauguration of the 2023 Kissinger Sommer Festival with an all-Italian opera gala.
